Whereas
, The deferred operation of this act would
tend to defeat its purpose, which is forthwith to
provide to eligible claimants immediate access to extended federal
unemployment insurance benefits,
therefore it is hereby declared to be an emergency law,
necessary for the immediate preservation of the
public convenience.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives
in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same,
as follows:
SECTION 1.
Section 30A of chapter 151A of
the General Laws, as appearing in the 2000
Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out, in line 108, the word
"one".
SECTION 2.
Notwithstanding section 14 of chapter 151A of the
General Laws, the experience rate of an employer qualifying for it under
subsection (b) of said section 14 of said chapter 151A shall be the rate
which appears in the column designated "B" for calendar year 2003.
SECTION 3.
Section 1 shall take effect as of
March 9, 2002. Section 2 shall take effect on January 1, 2003.
