Whereas
, The deferred operation of this act would
tend to defeat its purpose, which is to
provide forthwith for the annual observance of World War II Commemoration Day,
therefore it is hereby declared to be an emergency law,
necessary for the immediate preservation of the
public convenience.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives
in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same,
as follows:
Chapter 6 of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting after
section 15XXXX
the following section:-
Section 15YYYY. The governor shall annually issue a proclamation setting
apart
September 2 as World War II Commemoration Day, in honor of those who served
in
that war and recommending that the day be observed in an appropriate manner by
the people and recommending that church bells be rung at 9:04 a.m. on that day
in
recognition of the final surrender of Japan and the formal conclusion of the
conflict.
