AN ACT AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF NEWBURYPORT TO ACQUIRE INTERESTS IN LAND IN THE TOWN OF NEWBURY.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same as follows:

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding section 16 of chapter 30B but subject to paragraphs (a), (b) and (g) of section 16 of said chapter 30B of the General Laws or any other general or special law to the contrary, the city of Newburyport may enter into a lease agreement with National Grid to provide for the public use of the inhabitants of the city of Newburyport of the land located off Parker street in the town of Newbury and shown as Parcels 5, 6 and 7 on a plan recorded with the Essex county registry of deeds, southern district, in plan book 57, plan 84. The term of the lease shall be for not more than 99 years and for such terms and conditions as the city of Newburyport and National Grid deem appropriate.

SECTION 2. Notwithstanding section 16 of chapter 30B of the General Laws or any other general or special law to the contrary, the city of Newburyport may acquire and hold for the public use of the inhabitants of the city of Newburyport an interest in those lands on Parker street in the town of Newbury described in a deed recorded with the Essex county registry of deeds, southern district, in book 25956, page 212, and may hold such land in common with the town of Newbury.

SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
