Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same as follows:

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding the first sentence of section 26 of chapter 111 of the General Laws or any other general or special law to the contrary, there shall be a board of health in the city of Methuen consisting of 5 persons, 1 of whom shall be a physician.

SECTION 1A. The term of each member of the board of health shall be for 3 years, so arranged that as nearly an equal number of terms as is possible shall expire each year.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
