CHAPTER 1 RESOLVE PROVIDING FOR AN INVESTIGATION AND STUDY BY A SPECIAL COMMISSION RELATIVE TO PAIN MANAGEMENT PROCEDURES.

RESOLVED, That a special commission to consist of two members of the senate, two members of the house of representatives, the commissioner of the department of public health or his designee, and four persons to be appointed by the governor, one of whom shall be a nurse employed by a hospice program, and one of whom shall be a representative of the Massachusetts Medical Society, is hereby established for the purpose of making an investigation and study relative to medical pain management procedures and the care and treatment of patients in the commonwealth. Said commission shall seek to identify any substantial disparity and the success of techniques used in different health care settings. Said commission shall report to the general court the results of its investigation and study, if any, together with drafts of legislation necessary to carry such recommendations into effect by filing the same with the clerk of the senate on or before June thirtieth, nineteen hundred and ninety-three.
