AN ACT AUTHORIZING MICHAEL MCHUGH TO TAKE THE CIVIL SERVICE EXAMINATION FOR THE POSITION OF POLICE OFFICER NOTWITHSTANDING THE MAXIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT.

Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purpose, which is to authorize forthwith Michael McHugh to take the civil service examination for the position of police officer notwithstanding the maximum age requirement, therefore it is hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public convenience.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same as follows:

Notwithstanding chapter 31 of the General Laws or any other general or special law or rule or regulation to the contrary regulating the maximum age of an applicant for appointment as a police officer, Michael McHugh of the city of Boston shall be eligible to take the next open competitive examination for appointment to the position of police officer and if he meets all other requirements, shall be eligible for certification and appointment to such position.
