AN ACT AUTHORIZING THE TOWN OF GREAT BARRINGTON TO CONTINUE THE EMPLOYMENT OF FIRE CHIEF, HARRY JENNINGS AND DEPUTY FIRE CHIEF, EDWARD G. MCCORMICK.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same as follows:

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, Harry Jennings, chief of the fire department of the town of Great Barrington and Edward G. McCormick, deputy chief of said fire department, may each continue to serve in such positions until June 30, 2016, until the date of his retirement or until the date he is relieved of his duties by the town manager, whichever occurs first; provided, however, that each is mentally and physically capable of performing the duties of his respective office. McCormick subsequent to February 6, 2012, and upon retirement, each shall receive a superannuation retirement allowance equal to that which he would have been entitled had he retired on his respective date.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.

Approved, January 13, 2012.
