AN ACT AUTHORIZING THE TOWN OF LYNNFIELD TO CONVEY CERTAIN LAND

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding chapter 30B of the General Laws or any other general or special law to the contrary, the town of Lynnfield, acting by and through its board of selectmen, may convey to the Lynnfield American Legion or to its assignee, for the sum of $1 a certain parcel of land identified as parcel number 0829 on the Lynnfield assessors’ map 52 and more particularly described in a deed recorded in the Essex southern district registry of deeds in book 2492, page 475. The parcel shall be used for the purposes associated with traditional American Legion uses or for uses as a patriotic veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness.

SECTION 2. The deed effectuating the conveyance authorized in section 1 shall provide that if the parcel ceases to be used for the purposes set forth in section 1 for more than 1 continuous year, unless such cessation is caused by an uncontrollable force or natural disaster not within the power of the Lynnfield American Legion or its assignee, title to the parcel shall, at the election of the town of Lynnfield, revert to the town if the town: (i) provides the Lynnfield American Legion or its assignee with written notification and an opportunity to cure; and (ii) records a notice of the reversion in the Essex southern district registry of deeds.

SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
