AN ACT DESIGNATING A PORTION OF STATE HIGHWAY ROUTE 88 AS GOVERNOR ARGEO PAUL CELLUCCI CIRCLE IN THE TOWN OF WESTPORT

Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purpose, which is to designate forthwith a certain traffic circle in the town of Westport, therefore it is hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public convenience.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
The traffic circle located at the intersection of Main highway, John Reed road and Cherry lane and Webb lane at the south end of state highway route 88 in the town of Westport shall be designated and known as Governor Argeo Paul Cellucci circle, in honor of Governor Argeo Paul Cellucci, for his role in protecting the safety of the town ’s residents by his quick response in 1995 to the need for extensive reconfiguration of the traffic control systems on state highway route 88 to end a series of fatal motor vehicle collisions. The Massachusetts Department of Transportation shall erect and maintain suitable markers bearing the designation in compliance with the standards of the department.
