AN ACT AUTHORIZING THE TOWN OF FALMOUTH TO CONTINUE THE EMPLOYMENT OF POLICE CHIEF EDWARD DUNNE.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same as follows:

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, Edward Dunne, chief of police of the town of Falmouth, may continue to serve in that position until June 30, 2024, the date of his retirement or the date he is relieved of his duties by the town manager of the town of Falmouth, whichever occurs first; provided, however, that he is mentally and physically capable of performing the duties of his office. The town manager may, at the expense of the town, require that Edward Dunne be examined by an impartial physician on or about his sixty-fifth birthday and each year thereafter on or about his birthday to determine such capability. No further deductions shall be made from the regular compensation of Edward Dunne pursuant to chapter 32 of the General Laws for service subsequent to the date he reaches 65 years of age and, upon retirement, he shall receive a superannuation retirement allowance equal to the allowance that he would have been entitled had he retired on that date. Edward Dunne shall continue to be a member in service under section 1 of said chapter 32, for purposes of eligibility for benefits under section 7, 9 or 100 of said chapter 32 during any period after his sixty-fifth birthday while serving as chief of police of the town of Falmouth.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
