An Act relative to the penalties for persons convicted of assaults in dwellings..
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
Chapter 265 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2006 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after section 18C, the following section:--
Section 18D. Assault in Dwelling: Whoever knowingly enters the dwelling place of another and while therein commits an assault upon a person lawfully therein shall be punished by imprisonment in the state prison for not more than ten (10) years or by a fine of not more than $500 dollars and imprisonment in jail for not more than 2 years
