An Act Relative to candidates for Public Office..
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Chapter 265 of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting after section 13L the following section:-
Section 13M. Whoever commits an assault or assault and battery on a candidate running for public office shall be punished by imprisonment in the house of correction for not less than 90 days not more than 2 ½ years or by a fine of not less than $500 not more than $5,000 or both.
