An Act relative to job opportunities for people with disabilities..
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 16 of chapter 6 A of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2006 Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding the following paragraphs: -
The Executive Office of Health and Human Services shall develop standards to identify and recruit with the intent to hire qualified applicants with disabilities; said standards shall apply to all vendors providing direct services under multi-year contracts or grants funded by agencies with the Secretariat. Standards shall include a commitment to hiring people with disabilities and training all employees involved in hiring decisions on the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
The Executive Office of Health and Human Services shall report its findings, which shall include the progress made toward achieving this employment goal, to the Clerk of the House of Representatives; the Clerk of the Senate; the Joint Committee on Children, Families and Persons with Disabilities; and the Joint Committee on Labor and Workforce Development no later than October 31, 2010, and thereafter, no later than October 31 annually.
