An Act regarding enivironmental police candidates..

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION X.  Section 34B of Chapter 92 of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting at the end thereof the following:-

(e) Park Rangers assigned to the division of water supply protection who are in good standing and meet the eligibility requirements for selection as an environmental police officer, as defined by the office of law enforcement under the secretariat of environmental affairs, and who have passed a competitive civil service examination for appointment to the force of the environmental police, shall have his park ranger service considered as having met the minimum entry level requirements for such position.  Park rangers whose names currently appear on a certified civil service list for the position of environmental police officer at the time of the passage of this act shall be immediately eligible for appointment. For purposes of retirement, time served as a park ranger shall be deemed creditable service, following appointment as an environmental police officer.
