An Act prohibiting certain retaliatory actions by food stores..

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

Chapter 94 of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting after section 184E the following section:-

Section 184F. No food store, food department or any establishment subject to sections 184B to 184E shall take retaliatory action, including but not limited to, banning from the premises or restricting access in any way, against any person who complains about, reports or makes public any violation of sections 184B to 185E.  Any retaliatory actions taken previously shall be reversed immediately upon notification of this section.  Violation of this statue shall be subject to a $250 fine per violation.  A violation is defined as one day of restricting access in any manner.  Upon the second violation, all the store’s price marking exemptions shall be rescinded for a period of 12 months.
