An Act relative to waiver requests of 180 school days for 2008 2009 school year..

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

The department of education shall award and honor all waiver requests from school districts seeking to be exempt from the 180 day school year due to school cancellations because of inclement weather for the 2008 – 2009 school year.  School districts requests under this provision shall be able to reduce their 2008- 2009 school year to not less than 175 days, unless the department of education determines a waiver for a school year less than 175 days is warranted.
