An Act establishing a statewide disaster fund..

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1.  Chapter 29 of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting after section 2YYY the following section:-

Section 2ZZZ.  There shall be established and set up on the books of the commonwealth a separate fund, to be known as the Statewide Disaster Fund.  The fund shall deduct $1 off homeowners’ insurance policies to be used when regular homeowners and flood insurance policies do not cover damage caused by flooding.

SECTION 2.  Section 4C of chapter 175 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2006 Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding the following sentence:-  One dollar shall be deducted from each homeowner’s policy written and shall be deposited into the Statewide Disaster Fund, established by section 2ZZZ of chapter 29.

SECTION 3.  Section 102D of said chapter 175, as so appearing, is hereby amended by adding the following sentence:- $1.00 shall be deducted from each homeowner’s policy written and shall be deposited into the Statewide Disaster Fund, established by section 2ZZZ of chapter 29.
