An Act establishing technical assistance grants to certified emergency response teams..
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Chapter 6A of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting after section 18I the following section:-
Section 18J. The Massachusetts emergency management agency shall establish a technical assistance grants fund program for certified emergency response teams. The agency shall provide technical assistance grants to communities for the purpose of conducting and maintaining neighborhood emergency preparedness surveys and inventories relative to existing resources used to mitigate the effects of community-wide natural or manmade disasters. Such surveys and inventories may include but is not limited to information relative to the locations and numbers of generators, sump pumps, chainsaws, snow blowers, and other outdoor maintenance equipment, drinking wells, private short term housing hosts and flood lights. Such inventory and survey information will be coordinated with the local public safety officials and be incorporated as part of the communities’ official emergency management plans.
