SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary the Massachusetts teachers’ retirement board shall allow Robert James Lytle to purchase as creditable service the time he served in active military service from December 1, 2003 to March 1, 2008 and April, 2008 to September 30, 2008 and November 1 to December 31, 2008; provided however, that no credit shall be allowed unless said Robert James Lytle, has paid into the Annuity Savings Fund of the teachers’ retirement system by the date of his retirement, in 1 sum or in installments, upon such terms and conditions as the board may prescribe, an amount equal to the deductions that would have been withheld had Robert James Lytle continued in service, as determined by the board, together with buyback interest.
