The ninth paragraph section 2 of chapter 90 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2006 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after the eight sentence the following 7 sentences:-A placard shall be issued for a 90 day period to applicants who have a disability that is temporary in nature and may be renewed for a like period based upon continued disability. Any person needing more than 1 renewal shall be referred to the registrar. The temporary placard shall be the same size and design as a regular placard but shall be red in color. “Temporary disability” means a disability that lasts for 6 months. Such placard shall be prominently displayed by hanging it from the rear view mirror so as to be visible through the front window. If no rear view mirror is available, the placard may be placed on a sun visor or the dashboard so as to be visible through the front windshield.
