An Act Mandating Safety Standards for School Bus Drivers..

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

Section 8A of chapter 90 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition, is hereby amended in the second paragraph, by striking out the first sentence and inserting in place thereof the following:

All original applicants and every applicant for renewal of a motor vehicles school bus driver’s license or a department of telecommunications and energy driver’s license when used to drive school pupils to or from school shall have first satisfactorily completed a pre-service school bus driver training program established by the commissioner of education in collaboration with the registrar and the commissioner of the department of telecommunications and energy and a basic course in first aid, which shall include training relative to  the administration of the Heimlich maneuver, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and an epinephrine auto injector, as approved by the registrar.
