An Act relative to the composition of the licensing board for the City of Pittsfield..
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
Notwithstanding the provisions of section 4 of chapter 138 of the General Laws or any other general or special law to the contrary, the licensing board for the city of Pittsfield shall consist of five members to be appointed by the mayor, subject to confirmation by the city council. Each member shall be a resident of the city of Pittsfield and shall be appointed to serve for a term of three years and until his successor is chosen and qualified.
(b)This act shall be implemented 90 days after the effective date of this act. Those persons serving as members of the licensing board at the time of passage of this act shall continue to serve as members for a period of three years or until the expiration of their term, whichever period is shorter.
On the effective date of this act, the mayor, subject to confirmation by the city council, shall appoint two residents of the city of Pittsfield to serve as members of the licensing board, one of whom shall serve for a term of one year, one of whom shall serve for a term of two years. Upon the expiration of the terms of office referred to in this paragraph, members shall then be appointed to serve for a term of three years.
