An Act relative to appointments to the town of Brookline Police Department..

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding chapter 31 of the General Laws, or any other general or special law to the contrary, persons who graduated from Brookline high school within 10 years of the date of examination for original appointment to the police force of the town of Brookline shall be afforded the same status as persons who have resided in the town of Brookline for 1 year immediately prior to the date of such examination for the purposes of establishing standing on any eligible list applicable to original appointment to the police force under chapter 31 of the General Laws, establishing standing for certification from any eligible list applicable to original appointment to the police force under said chapter 31 and otherwise evaluating candidates for original appointment to the police force.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
