An Act further regulating the sale of distinctive registration plates for veterans..
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 2E of chapter 90 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2004 Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding the following subsection:-
(d) Upon the issuance of motor vehicle registration plates bearing the word “VETERAN” pursuant to section 2 and after payment of the appropriate fee as provided, the registrar shall deduct the costs directly attributable to the issuance of such plates and the balance remaining shall be distributed pursuant to this subsection. Sixty percent of the total revenues shall be deposited into a retained revenue account at the Soldiers' Home in Chelsea, Massachusetts, and 40 percent of the total revenues shall be deposited into a retained revenue account at the Soldiers' Home in Holyoke. The funds generated by the sale of VETERAN plates shall be used be the soldiers' homes for facility maintenance and patient care, including personnel costs. At no time shall any portion of the revenues be paid into the general fund.
SECTON 2. Section 34 of said chapter 90, as so appearing in the General Laws, is hereby amended by striking out the third paragraph.
