An Act Relative to Veterans’ Burial Benefits..

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1.  Section 8 of Chapter 115 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2004 Official edition, is hereby amended by striking out lines 1 through 14 and inserting in place thereof the following:- “Amounts expended by the burial agent under the provisions of section 7 shall not exceed $5,000 for the funeral and burial of a person under this chapter, provided that the cost of funeral and burial does not exceed $6,000 and there are insufficient resources in the estate of such person to pay for the cost of such funeral and burial. Amounts expended by the burial agent under the provisions of section 7 shall not exceed $3,000 for the cremation, funeral and burial of a person under this chapter, provided that the cost of the cremation, funeral and burial does not exceed $4,000 and there are insufficient resources in the estate of such person to pay for the cost of such cremation, funeral and burial.”
