An Act designating a certain node of the Blackstone River and Canal Heritage State Park in the town of Uxbridge as the Effingham Capron Memorial Park..
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. The Capron Park Node of the Blackstone River and Canal Heritage State Park located on Route 16 next to the Mumford River in the town of Uxbridge shall be designated and known as the Effingham Capron Memorial Park, in memory of Effingham Capron, a leader in Anti-Slavery movement at the local, county, and state levels, and an active participant in the “Underground Railroad” helping many former slaves escape to freedom. The department of conservation and recreation shall erect and maintain a suitable marker and signage bearing this designation in compliance with the standards of the department.
