An Act regarding the decommissioning of schoolhouses for which school facilities project applicant receives grant payments.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

Section 15 of chapter 70B of the general laws, as appearing in the 2008 official edition, is hereby amended by inserting after paragraph (d) the following paragraph:

(e) The authority, in consultation with the commissioner of elementary and secondary education, shall promulgate rules and regulations creating a procedure for the decommissioning of an assisted structure due to a decrease in student enrollment. Said procedure shall include guidelines for a district to follow when creating a decommissioning plan to be submitted to the authority. Said rules and regulations shall include a requirement that the authority consult with the commissioner on any decommissioning plan to ensure that said plan is educationally sound.
