An Act to protect social workers from work related injuries.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 58 of Chapter 30 of the General laws is amended by striking the fourth paragraph and inserting in place thereof the following new paragraph:-
“Notwithstanding the provisions of this section, an employee who, while in the performance of duty, receives bodily injuries resulting from acts of violence from patients, prisoners, or children in his or her caseload or parents of said children, and who, as a result of such injury, would be entitled to benefits under said chapter one hundred and fifty-two, shall be paid the difference between the weekly cash benefits to which he would be entitled under said chapter one hundred and fifty-two and his regular salary, without such absence being charged against available sick leave credits, even if such absence may be for less than eight calendar days' duration.”
