An Act prohibiting slotting allowances..
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Chapter 93 of the General Laws is hereby amended by adding the following section:--
Section 43A. The request for mandatory slotting fees shall be prohibited in any trade or business which involves the sale of specialty food products made by small producers, with less than one million dollars in sales in the previous calendar year, in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. For purpose of this section, a slotting fee shall mean the mandatory submission of money or free products, in return for shelf space in a retail store.
Any person or business which violates the provisions of this section shall be punished by a fine of not more than twenty-five thousand dollars.
