An Act relative to requiring sex offenders to make an initial in person appearance.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Chapter 6 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after section 178F, the following new section:
Section 178F ¼. A sex offender finally classified by the board as a level 2 or a level 3 sex offender who is required to register pursuant to sections 178C to 178P, inclusive, who moves to a different city or town within the commonwealth, or who becomes an employee at a work address in a different city or town within the commonwealth, or who enrolls at an institution of higher learning as a part-time or full-time student in a different city or town within the commonwealth, shall, not later than 2 days following such change, make an initial personal appearance at the local police department in such city or town.
