An Act relative to providing fiscal relief to municipalities.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Chapter 149 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding, after section 27H, the following section:

“Section 27I. The ten preceding sections shall apply to the construction of public works by a city, town, or district only after a binding vote by the legislative body. For the purposes of this section, legislative body shall mean the town meeting in a town, the town council in a town without a town meeting, the city council in a city with the approval of the mayor or the city council in a Plan D or Plan E city with the approval of the manager, or as otherwise authorized in accordance with a duly adopted charter.”.
