An Act relative to the New Bedford Police Association.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1.Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the New Bedford Police Association may upon the death of any retired member of the New Bedford Police Department who is a member in good standing of the association, after approved by the board of directors, pay to the beneficiary or beneficiaries named by such member the sum of $6,000 less such sum of money paid to him/her upon his/her retirement pursuant to chapter 188 of the acts of 1969.
SECTION 2.Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the New Bedford Police Association may upon the resignation or retirement of a member in good standing who has been a member of the association for not less than 10 years or who has been pensioned from the New Bedford Police Department for an injury or other disability, after approved of the board of directors, pay such members a sum equal to $1,000 or $150 for each year of membership in the association, not to exceed 20 years, whichever is greater.
SECTION 3.Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the New Bedford Police Association may, upon the death of a member not yet retired and in good standing of the association after approved by the board of directors, who is presently a member of the New Bedford Police Department, pay to the beneficiary, or beneficiaries named by the member to the sum of $12,000.
