SECTION 1. Section 59 of chapter 33 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out, in line 10, the words “without loss of” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- "in addition to"
SECTION 2. Said section 59 is hereby further amended by striking out, in line 13, the word “officials.” and inserting in place thereof the following words:-
"; provided that the ordinary remuneration authorized by this section shall be reduced by any amounts received from the United States government as base pay for military service performed during the same pay period."
SECTION 3. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, if any person in the service of the commonwealth, or of a county, city or town, serves as a member of the Massachusetts National Guard and takes a leave of absence from service as an employee or official of the commonwealth or of a county, city or town while continuing to receive ordinary remuneration as an employee or official of the commonwealth or of a county, city or town, shall have the remuneration reduced by any amounts received from the United States government as base pay for military service performed during the same pay period.
