By Mr. Hecht of Watertown,  a petition (accompanied by bill, House, No. 1692) of Jonathan Hecht and others for legislation to further regulate the sales tax imposed on the purchase of certain motor vehicles and bicycles.  Revenue.

In the Year Two Thousand Eleven

An Act revising sales taxes on motor vehicles and bicycles.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

Section 2 of Chapter 64H is hereby amended by inserting after the words “6.25 percent”, the words “, or in the case of motor vehicles as defined in Section One of Chapter 90, eight percent,”.

Section 6 of Chapter 64H is hereby amended by inserting at the end thereof the following new subsections:

“(yy) Sales of motor vehicles up to five thousand two hundred and fifty dollars of the sales price and sales of hybrid or electric powered motor vehicles up to eleven thousand five hundred dollars of the sales price”

“(zz) Sales of bicycles up to two thousand dollars of the sales price.
