An Act relative to including advertisements in local tax bill mailings.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
Section 1. Section 3A of Chapter 60 of the General Laws, as most recently amended by Section 54 of Chapter 188 of the Acts of 2010, is hereby amended by adding after subsection (d) the following new subsection: -
e.) The collector in any municipality that has so accepted this section pursuant to Section 4, Chapter 4 of the Massachusetts General Laws may, with approval of the board of selectman, or mayor, as the case may be, include in the envelope in which tax bills are to be mailed nonpolitical advertisements that do not promote or solicit for any person engaged in the business of tax preparation, in order to offset the cost of such mailings for the community.
