In the Year Two Thousand Eleven

An Act modernizing property tax assessment for the blind.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Clause Thirty-seventh of chapter 59 of the Massachusetts General Laws, as most recently amended by chapter 240 of the acts of 2010, is hereby amended, in the first paragraph, by striking the words “five thousand dollars” and inserting, in place thereof, the words, “one thousand dollars”.

SECTION 2. Clause Thirty-seventh of section 5 of said chapter 59 is hereby amended, in the first paragraph, by striking the words “four hundred and thirty-seven dollars and fifty cents” and inserting, in place thereof, the words “one thousand dollars.” .

SECTION 3. Clause Thirty-seventh of section 5 of said chapter is hereby amended in the second paragraph, by striking the words “four thousand dollars of this exemption or the sum of three hundred and fifty dollars” and inserting, in place thereof, the words “five thousand dollars of this exemption of the sum of five hundred dollars.” .

SECTION 4. Clause Thirty-seventh of section 5 of said chapter is hereby amended, in the third paragraph, by striking the words “one thousand dollars of exemption or eighty-seven dollars and fifty cents” and inserting, in place thereof, the words “five thousand dollars of exemption or five hundred dollars.” .

SECTION 5. Section 5 of said chapter is hereby amended by striking clause thirty-seventh A in its entirety.
