An Act to ensure that all minors are not charged as adults.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

Section 1: Section 52 of Chapter 119 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition, is herby amended, in line 12, by striking out the words, “an adult or” in the definition of a “Youthful Offender”

Section 2: Section 52 of Chapter 119 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition, is herby amended, in line 5, by striking out the word “seventeen” and substituting in place thereof the word “eighteen”

Section 3: Section 52 of Chapter 119 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition, is herby amended, in line 14, by striking out the word “seventeen” and substituting in place thereof the word “eighteen”

Section 4: Section 54 of Chapter 119 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition, is hereby amended, in line 2, by striking out the word “seventeen” and substituting in place thereof the word “eighteen”

Section 5: Section 54 of Chapter 119 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition, is hereby amended, in line 20, by striking out the word “seventeen” and substituting in place thereof the word “eighteen”

Section 6: Section 54 of Chapter 119 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition, is hereby amended, is herby amended by adding, at the end of the section the following new paragraph:-

If a person, who has attained the age of fourteen but not yet attained the age of eighteen, is charged with any crime, he under no circumstances can be charged as if he were an adult, and must be tried in juvenile court.

Section 7: Section 58 of Chapter 119 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition, is hereby amended, in line 67, by striking out the word “seventeenth” and substituting in place thereof the word “eighteenth”

Section 8: Section 58 of Chapter 119 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition, is hereby amended, in line 72, by striking out the word “seventeenth” and substituting in place thereof the word “eighteenth”

Section 9: Section 60A of Chapter 119 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition, is hereby amended, in line 16, by striking out the word “seventeenth” and substituting in place thereof the word “eighteenth”

Section 10: Section 60A of Chapter 119 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition, is hereby amended, in line 19, by striking out the word “seventeen” and substituting in place thereof the word “eighteen”

Section 11: Section 65 of Chapter 119 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition, is hereby amended, in line 2, by striking out the word “seventeen” and substituting in place thereof the word “eighteen”

Section 12: Section 66 of Chapter 119 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition, is hereby amended, in line 2, by striking out the word “seventeen” and substituting in place thereof the word “eighteen”

Section 13: Section 66 of Chapter 119 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition, is hereby amended, in line 5, by striking out the word “seventeen” and substituting in place thereof the word “eighteen”

Section 14: Section 67 of Chapter 119 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition, is hereby amended, in line 2, by striking out the word “seventeen” and substituting in place thereof the word “eighteen”

Section 15: Section 67 of Chapter 119 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition, is hereby amended, in line 19, by striking out the word “seventeen” and substituting in place thereof the word “eighteen”

Section 16: Section 67 of Chapter 119 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition, is hereby amended, in line 20, by striking out the word “seventeen” and substituting in place thereof the word “eighteen”

Section 17: Section 67 of Chapter 119 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition, is hereby amended, in line 35, by striking out the word “seventeen” and substituting in place thereof the word “eighteen”

Section 18: Section 67 of Chapter 119 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition, is hereby amended, in line 45, by striking out the word “seventeen” and substituting in place thereof the word “eighteen”

Section 19: Section 68 of Chapter 119 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition, is hereby amended, in line 2, by striking out the word “seventeen” and substituting in place thereof the word “eighteen”

Section 20: Section 68 of Chapter 119 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition, is hereby amended, in line 31, by striking out the word “seventeen” and substituting in place thereof the word “eighteen”

Section 21: Section 68 of Chapter 119 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition, is hereby amended, in line 46, by striking out the word “seventeen” and substituting in place thereof the word “eighteen”

Section 22: Section 68A of Chapter 119 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition, is hereby amended, in line 1, by striking out the word “seventeen” and substituting in place thereof the word “eighteen”

Section 23: Section 70 of Chapter 119 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition, is hereby amended, in line 2, by striking out the word “seventeen” and substituting in place thereof the word “eighteen”

Section 24: Section 72 of Chapter 119 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition, is hereby amended, in line 9, by striking out the word “seventeenth” and substituting in place thereof the word “eighteenth”

Section 25: Section 72 of Chapter 119 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition, is hereby amended, in line 10, by striking out the words “between his seventeenth and” and substituting in place thereof the words “after his”

Section 26: Section 72 of Chapter 119 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition, is hereby amended, in line 12, by striking out the word “seventeenth” and substituting in place thereof the word “eighteenth”

Section 27: Section 72 of Chapter 119 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition, is hereby amended, in line 13, by striking out the word “seventeen” and substituting in place thereof the word “eighteen”

Section 28: Section 72A of Chapter 119 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition, is hereby amended, in line 2, by striking out the word “seventeenth” and substituting in place thereof the word “eighteenth”

Section 29: Section 72B of Chapter 119 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition, is hereby amended, in line 2, by striking out the word “seventeenth” and substituting in place thereof the word “eighteenth”

Section 30: Section 72B of Chapter 119 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition, is hereby amended, in line 7, by striking out the word “seventeenth” and substituting in place thereof the word “eighteenth”

Section 33: Section 74 of Chapter 119 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition, is hereby amended, in line 3, by striking out the word “seventeenth” and substituting in place thereof the word “eighteenth”

Section 34: Section 74 of Chapter 119 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition, is hereby amended, in line 10, by striking out the word “seventeen” and substituting in place thereof the word “eighteen”

Section 35: Section 74 of Chapter 119 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition, is hereby amended, in line 12, by striking out the word “not”
