An act to further protect DCF social workers.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

Chapter 265 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2000 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting the following section:-- Section 13N. Assaulting a DCF employee.  Whoever commits an assault or assault and battery on a Department of Children and Families employee outside of that employees regular duties, when said employee has responsibility or jurisdiction of assailant’s case at DCF, said assailant shall be punished by imprisonment in the house of correction for not less than 180 days nor more than 5 years, or by a fine of not less than $1,000 nor more than $10,000, or both.
