In the Year Two Thousand Eleven

An Act relative to organ retention.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
Section 1. The first paragraph of Section 13 of Chapter 38 of the General Laws, is hereby amended by inserting after the first sentence, the following sentence:-
"If upon release of the body, any body part of the deceased has been retained by the office, the authorized person receiving the body shall be so informed."
Section 2. The second paragraph of Section 13 of Chapter 38 of the General Laws, is hereby amended by inserting after the second sentence, the following sentence:-
"No body part or organ may be retained without consent from the deceased's next of kin."
Section 3. Upon passage, this law shall be known as the "David F. Macrelli Law."
