An Act relative to the lawful use of shotguns.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

Section 1. Section 66 of Chapter 131 is hereby amended by deleting it in its entirety and replacing it with the following:

Section 66: Except during the prescribed open season when deer or bear may be hunted lawfully with a shotgun, a person shall not have in his possession a shotgun shell loaded with a rifled slug, single ball, buckshot of any size, in any place where birds or mammals might be found.  The director may promulgate rules and regulations regarding shotgun ammunition to be utilized while engaged in hunting.

Notwithstanding any special law or regulation to the contrary this section shall not apply to the use of shotguns of shotgun ammunition on a skeet, trap or other firing ranges.
