An Act Allowing Mrs. Janet Picheny to Purchase Creditable Service with the Massachusetts Teachers Retirement System..
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
Section 1. Notwithstanding any general or special law or rule or regulation to the contrary, the Massachusetts Teachers’ Retirement System is hereby authorized and directed to allow Janet L. Picheny to purchase credit for nine years and eight months of prior teaching service rendered by her in the public schools of New York by paying the amount required by G.L. c. 32, s. 3(4) into the annuity savings fund of the Massachusetts Teachers’ Retirement System. Upon such payment, Ms. Picheny’s retirement allowance shall be increased by the addition of such creditable service retroactive back to the effective date of her retirement as though her purchase of such service had preceded her effective date of retirement. Provided however, Picheny’s monthly retirement allowance shall be reduced by an amount determined by the actuary to reflect the payment she received from the New York State Teachers’ Retirement System.
Section 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
