Resolve A Resolve for a study by special commission relative to reviewing & evaluating the safety of high school and college level cheerleading.
Resolved,
That a special commission to consist of one member of the senate, two members of the house, the secretary of the department of education or designee, the director of the Massachusetts athletic association or designee, the director of the national cheer safety foundation or designee, and the director of the Massachusetts association of cheerleading coaches or designee is hereby established for the purpose of conducting a study intended to review and evaluate current safety practices involving the activity of cheerleading. The scope of the commission will include but is not limited to, the certification of all cheerleading coaches; the presence of emergency medical technicians, athletic trainers, and/or physicians where and when deemed necessary; reporting of all injuries, requirements and precautions taken to prevent injuries; as well as the system by which all standards are enforced. Said commission shall report to the house of representatives the results and recommendations of its study, together with legislation necessary to enact these recommendations, by filing with the clerk of the house of representatives within 1 year of enactment.
