An Act further protecting children from sexual predators.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Chapter 272 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2006 Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding after section 29B, the following new section:-
Section 29D. Whoever solicits sex with any person under the age of eighteen years through methods including, but not limited to, the use of the internet, or who knowingly aids and assists in such solicitation shall be punished by imprisonment in a house of correction or in the state prison for a mandatory minimum of 3 years.
SECTION 2. Section 178C of Chapter 6 of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting after the words “chapter 272”, in lines 78-79, the following words:- ;soliciting sex with a minor under the provisions of section 29D of chapter 272.
SECTION 3. Chapter 265 of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting after section 43, the following section:-
Section 44½. Whoever entices any person under the age of eighteen years for any illegal purpose through methods including, but not limited to, the use of the internet, rewards or promises of material goods or monies, or threats or intimidation shall be punished by imprisonment for a mandatory minimum of 5 years in a house of correction or a state prison.
