An Act relative to the order of placement of a certain person on the civil service eligibility list.

 

Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purpose, which is to to immediately make a certain person eligible for appointment to the fire service, therefore it is hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public convenience., therefore it is hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public convenience.
 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

Notwithstanding the provisions of section twenty-six of chapter thirty-one of the General Laws or any other general or special law to the contrary, any son of Robert Martinello, a firefighter of the city of Chelsea who retired due to accidental disability on April sixth, nineteen hundred and ninety-five, who passes the required written and physical examinations for entrance to the fire service shall have his name certified for original appointment to the fire service before all other persons on the eligible list for such appointment; provided, however, that if more than one person is deemed to be eligible pursuant to the provisions of this act, the names of such persons shall be certified in the order of their respective scores on the open competitive civil service examination for such fire service.
