In the Year Two Thousand Eleven

An Act relative to transparency.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
1. Any person holding the office of governor, lieutenant governor, secretary of state , state treasurer, state auditor, attorney general, state representative, or state senator who makes a recommendation on behalf of any individual seeking employment with the state, any quasi-governmental agency, county or municipality, shall make full disclosure of the following:
a. The dates and amounts of any campaign contributions made by said individual to the official’s campaign committee within the previous five (5) years;
b. Whether or not said individual has ever been employed by the official or official’s campaign committee, and, if so, in what capacity and for what period of time;
c. Whether or not said individual is blood relative of the official or the official’s spouse and, if so, to what extent; and
d. Whether or not a spouse of immediate member of the individual’s family falls into any of the above three categories (a) through (c).
Such reporting shall be made to the Secretary of State and the Attorney General, both of whom shall keep records of such reports accessible to the public both in written form and online.
2. Any individual seeking employment with the state, any quasi-governmental agency, county or municipality, shall make full disclosure of the following: shall make full disclosure of the following:

d. Whether or not a spouse of immediate member of the individual member’s family falls into any of the above three categories (a) through (c).
