An Act to ensure voter privacy and security.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

Section 1.  Section 79 of Chapter 54, as so appearing in the 2008 Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding at the end thereof the following language:

A voter who is unable to speak English in a city or town which does not provide a translated ballot in the voter’s native language may be provided translation services by any present non-profit representative, provided that such services are performed under the supervision of a certified election worker and take place at the registration table.  Under no circumstances may an individual other than one designated by the voter enter into the voting booth for the purpose of translating a ballot.
