An Act relative to regulating home improvement contractors.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 19 of chapter 142A of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out the second paragraph and inserting in place thereof the following paragraph:-
Any person who knowingly and willfully violates any of the provisions of this chapter, including those contractors and subcontractors who are exempt from the registration requirement, with respect to which a greater penalty is not otherwise provided by the provisions of this chapter or by any other law may be punished by a fine of up to $5,000 or by imprisonment in a jail or house of correction for not more than 1 year, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
SECTION 2. Section 21 of said chapter 142A, as so appearing, is hereby amended by inserting, after the word “chapter” in line 2, the following words:- , or any person exempt from the registration requirement of this chapter,
