An Act relative to authorizing the town of Saugus to place a certain question relative to a real estate tax assessment for snow and ice removal costs on the town’s election ballot.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1.  The town of Saugus may hold a special election, prior to June 30, 2011, to request voter approval of a 1 year real estate tax assessment for the purpose of paying snow and ice removal costs incurred during fiscal year 2011.  If approved by a majority of voters of the town, the assessment would be apportioned according to current classifications, assessments and tax rates; provided, however, that the total assessment shall not exceed the total cost of fiscal year 2011 snow and ice removal costs in the town of Saugus as certified by the town accountant prior to said election.

SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect upon its passage.
