In the Year Two Thousand Eleven

An Act regulating smoke detectors.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Chapter 22D of the General Laws is hereby amended by adding the following section: -
Section 5. The state fire marshal, the department of fire service, or any state or municipal agency, board or employee shall approve for sale or usage or replacement any equipment using radioactive technology or components for the purpose of detecting fire or smoke, either alone or in combination with other technologies or components, in any building or structure.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect on February 1, 2012.
