An act authorizing the City of Methuen to lease that building known as the Oakland Avenue School to the Islamic Academy for Peace.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of Section 3 of Chapter 40 of the General Laws or any other general special law, Rules, Regulations, or Ordinance to the contrary, the City of Methuen acting by and through its Mayor, subject to approval of its City Council, may Lease for not more than 25 years, on such terms as Mayor may determine, a portion of that building known as the Oakland Avenue School located in said City to The Islamic Academy for Peace.
SECTION 2. Notwithstanding the provisions of Section 5 of Chapter 30B of the General Laws or any other general or special law, Rules, Regulations, or Ordinance to the contrary, the City of Methuen is hereby authorized and entitled to waive the provisions of the foregoing statute for those purposes contained in Section 1, of this Act.
SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
